Dig, Dag, Digedag. GDR-Comic 'Mosaik'

The true story of the "Digedags" is revealed only after 1989. In the German Democratic Republic, comics are demonised as capitalistic barbarism. Nevertheless, "Mosaik" prevails in the tightly controlled press and publishing. Attempts of the SED-government to manipulate the comic are warded off again and again. Thus, a widely unpolitical and child-oriented entertainment emerges. "Digedags" comics send their readers on a journey out of the density of the SED-dictatorship. The exhibition presents the comic's fascination by showing unpublished master drawings, drafts, templates and models. Audio-visual material and interactive elements make the exhibition an experience for the whole family.
