Yearning for Jerusalem. Paths to the Holy Sepulchre

15.09.2008 - 31.12.2010

Resumo

The year 2004 saw the signing of a cooperation agreement between the Museum of European Cultures and the cloister of the Kloster Stift zum Heiligengrabe as part of the Foundation of Prussian Cultural Heritage's Federal Programme. At the heart of the agreement is the ecumenical collection entitled "The Gospel in the Homes of the People. Collection Gertrud Weinhold" which takes a comparative look between the denominations.

Em pormenor

Heiligengrabe, a former Cistercian convent which is now a Protestant abbey for women and is one of the best preserved nunneries from the Middle Ages in Brandenburg, will be presenting exhibitions to the public on a host of interdenominational subjects on the ground floor of its abbey house. The exhibition, "Yearning for Jerusalem. Paths to the Holy Sepulchre", which will be on display until October 2010 in the Kloster Stift zum Heiligengrabe, provides an insight into worship at the Holy Sepulchre. European reproductions of the Church of the Holy Sepulchre in Jerusalem and performances of the Easter Drama as part of the Liturgy of the Passion commemorate this act of worship, which also lends its name to the convent itself (with the German word "Heiligengrabe" meaning "Holy Sepulchre").
