Muzeum Etnograficzne w Poznaniu

in detail

Such display is the first of its kind in Europe. It presents a collection gathered by the Ethnographic Museum in Poznan for over forty years. The collection is the biggest in Poland and an important one in Europe, as it comprises more than 250 objects related to Kosovo and Albania. The exhibits date back mainly to the second half of the 20th century. Their unique value is indisputable, since they document cultural heritage of the region irretrievably lost during the military operations in 1998-1999 and due to quickly advancing globalisation. This catalogue describes in great detail all of the exhibit items.

The exhibition has been designed to show a complete collection of items from Kosovo and Albania present in Poland. Thus, the collection from Poznan was extended by exhibits dating back to the 19th century and the first half of the 20th century leased from the National Ethnographic Museum in Warsaw and the Ethnographic Museum of Seweryn Udziala in Cracow. The compilation has allowed to demonstrate changes occurring in the discussed region.
