Victoria and Albert Museum

in detail

The Victoria and Albert Museum is one of the world's greatest museums of art and design. More than seven miles of galleries are filled with outstanding collections of objects dating from 3000BC to the present day, including glass, metalwork, ceramics, photography, sculpture and fashion. In addition, there is an exciting programme of exhibitions, displays, activities and contemporary events.

In November 2001, the V&A has opened in the new British Galleries. From Chippendale to Morris, and Adam to Mackintosh, all of the top British Designers from 1500-1900 feature in the beautiful, newly-renovated sequence of fifteen galleries. The wealth of exhibits will be enhanced by computer interactives, objects to handle, video screens and audio programmes, offering an entirely new visitor experience in a stunning and innovative setting.
