Ethnography Museum in Poznań

in detail

Ethnography Museum in Poznań continues the tradition initiated in Wielkopolska in 1910 by the Poznań Folklore Society and is one of the oldest Polish museum institutions depicting the wealth of folk culture. The holdings are divided into the following departments: of Folk Art, Technical Culture, Folk Ceramics, Textiles, and Dress, Toys, Urban Culture, Documentation and Non-European Cultures.

At present the Museum holds an exhibit of folk dress from Wielkopolska, worn in the area of historical Wielkopolska in the latter half of the 19th c. and in the early 20th c. Archival photographs supplement a presentation of genuine garments.
