State Gallery Linz

in detail

An important goal of the State Gallery is it to promote the confrontation with modern and contemporary art. Toward this end an ongoing, internationally oriented exhibition program is conceived, whereby each exhibition is accompanied by the publication of a scientific book.
The State Gallery's art collection consists of apporximately one thousand paintings, sculptures and room installations, mainly from the area of moder and contemporary art, as well as approximately 20,000 photographs and about 10,000 graphic works of 20th century art, which are cared for in the graphic art collection.
Besides continually updating the collection (promotion of as broad a spectrum as possible of current, artistic statements related to Upper Austria), the State Gallery undertakes a continuous, scientific processing and documentation of existing holdings.
