Jyväskylä Art Museum

in detail

The permanent exhibitions and museum shop are located in the very centre of the city on Church Park. Designed by architect Oiva Kallio and completed in 1930, the Jyväskylä Savings Bank building has experienced various changes of form and ownership over the years. Plans to transform it into an Art Museum were drawn up by architect´s office Pekka Paavola Oy. The premises occupied by the Art Museum are located on the bottom two floors of the building. The savings bank tradition has been maintainet, however, with Säästöpankki Optia situated in the eastern end of the building. The top four floors has been renovated into apartments.
