in detail
About a thousand objects in 33 thematic areas open up key aspects of art and cultural history of the 16th to 18th Century in the German-speaking parts.
Masterpieces by Albrecht Dürer, Peter Vischer, Rembrandt and Franz Xaver Messerschmidt appear in their cultural context, such as the "potato" of Martin Behaim, Imperial pictures and other works of Albrecht Durer, the pilgrim's cloak of Stephen Praun, Rembrandt's Self Portrait, the character heads of Franz Xaver Messerschmidt and many other exhibits of international importance.
After several years of closure the exhibition now shows a spectacular new presentation of the most comprehensive collection of cultural history in German-speaking parts from Renaissance to Enlightenment.
