The Slovene Ethnographic Museum's first permanent exhibition, Between Nature and Culture, presents Slovene and non-European cultural heritage. Its second permanent exhibition, I, We and Others: Images of my World, rounds off a complex, fifteen-year long rejuvenation. The exhibition is complemented by the film Images of Daily Life in Slovenia's Past, which tells of our forebears in the pre-industrial age.
I, We and Others: Images of my World is an exhibition about man and his place in the world; about personal, communal and universal heritage - what it is, how it comes about and what it means. It thus complements the first exhibition. It is a space in which to pause between everyday responsibilities, to contemplate yourself and others, to reflect on the world and the life we live. It is a space in which to ask questions and seek your own answers, a space for exchanging ideas and experiences. It is an exhibition that wishes to awake in the visitor a delight in questioning and which strives to bring about a simple joy and wonder at the lively multitude of images of many different worlds.
We invite you to visit the exhibition - alone or in company. Not in large groups. Without an expert guide. To spend some time on yourself, to share your findings with others or keep them to yourself. It does not matter if our opinions differ. We shall be disappointed only if you are left feeling indifferent.
