in detail

More than 50 analogue black-and-white photographs illustrate the paper production in the Bavarian paper factory Gmund near Tegernsee. With precisely defined image details Rothenbergers's photographs draw the viewer's attention to the essentials of the production. Patterns from the current production of Gmund Papier complement the exhibition and show the versatility of the fabrics in a visual and haptic way. In an impressive way, craftsmanship and tradition blend with high technology and innovation at the Gmund paper factory.
Karl Heinz Rothenberger, born 1945 in Landshut, Germany, started photographing at age 14. As a passionate supporter of analogue photography, he rejects all digital image editing. His photographs impress through reduction. Numerous exhibitions in Germany and abroad showed his artworks.
