in detail

This small exhibition presents selected pieces of jewellery, pectorals, and amulets, as well as scarabs from various periods of Egyptian history. The display provides an overview of the different types of jewellery, explains their production and shows great examples of metalwork.
Spread over several separate showcases, the display explains the importance of jewellery in daily life, as luxury objects, and as protective amulets. Many of the objects from Berlin's Ägyptisches Museum collection have never gone on public display before. The exhibition is on display in room 0.04 in the basement.
